LMC 8.4 Not Working? 10 Easy Fixes

Crashes, black screen, missing lenses and more

Most LMC 8.4 problems come from three things: the wrong package, a config made for another phone, or limited Camera2 API support. Work through these fixes from top to bottom and your camera should be working in minutes.

If LMC 8.4 is not working, first clear the app data, then install the latest R18 default package, allow all permissions and switch HDR+ Enhanced to HDR+. If it still crashes, load a config made for your exact phone or try the package for your brand (Snapcam, Aweme, Scan3D or Iris). Phones without proper Camera2 API support may not run LMC 8.4 at all.

10 Fixes in Detail

1. Clear the app data

Go to Settings → Apps → LMC 8.4 → Storage → Clear data. This resets all settings and fixes most crashes after loading a bad config.

2. Install the latest R18 build

R18 includes fixed default lens IDs for many phones, so it is less likely to show a black screen than older builds. Get it from the LMC 8.4 R18 page.

3. Allow every permission

LMC 8.4 needs Camera, Microphone and Photos and media (storage). Without storage permission it cannot save photos or read configs.

4. Switch HDR+ Enhanced to HDR+

HDR+ Enhanced uses more memory and processing. On budget phones it can crash while saving. Tap the HDR icon in the viewfinder and choose HDR+.

5. Load a config made for your phone

A config for another model may use lens IDs or settings your phone does not support. Use a config for your exact model from the config file page.

6. Try a different package

If extra lenses are missing, install the package for your brand next to the default one: Snapcam for OnePlus and Snapdragon phones, Aweme for some Realme and Oppo phones, Scan3D or Iris for Samsung.

7. Lower the frame count

In advanced settings, reduce the number of HDR+ or Night Sight frames. Fewer frames use less memory and stop crashes on phones with 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM.

8. Turn off RAW and Motion Photos

Saving RAW (DNG) files and motion photos adds extra work. Turn them off if photos take very long to save.

9. Check Camera2 API support

Use "Camera2 API Probe". If your main camera shows LEGACY, LMC 8.4 cannot work properly on that phone. LIMITED phones may need very simple settings. Details: Camera2 API guide.

10. Try an older build

On a few MediaTek phones an older build such as R15 or R13 may be more stable. See all old versions.

Brand-Specific Problems

  • Samsung: dark photos → try Samsung Metering Mode (added in R17).
  • Realme / Oppo: only the main lens works → Aweme package.
  • Redmi with MediaTek: green or pink photos → use a config labelled for that model or lower HDR+ frames.
  • Infinix / Tecno: crash on opening → most models have limited Camera2 support; keep using the stock camera.

Still Not Working?

If none of these fixes help, your phone's camera hardware or software probably does not expose what Google Camera needs. That is a limit of the phone, not something an APK can fix. You can still follow the full install guide once more to make sure nothing was missed, or check the supported phones list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about LMC 8.4.

Why does LMC 8.4 crash when I take a photo?
Usually HDR+ Enhanced uses too much memory or the loaded config does not match your phone. Switch to HDR+, lower the frame count, clear data and load a config for your exact model.
Why does LMC 8.4 show a black screen?
The selected lens ID may not exist on your phone, or Camera2 API support is limited. Clear the app data, install R18 and try a different package.
Why are my LMC 8.4 photos not saving?
